Michael Roberson

About

Michael Roberson is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Prior to his career in counseling he spent over 15 years doing Christian Ministry providing healing through the teaching and preaching of God's Word. He developed a desire to help people on a more personal level which led him to go back to school and obtain his Master's Degree in Marriage, Couples and Family counseling. Since graduating he has sought to help couples, and individuals navigate the mental and emotional stresses of life.
Michael has an eclectic approach to therapy, but primarily uses Emotion Focused Therapy as well as Gottman techniques (with couples). He enjoys helping clients find healing in the counseling office, as well as teaching and providing impactful insight to people using his public speaking skills.
Ultimately, Michael's heart is to see people healed and changed so that they can live a happy and fulfilling life.

Attachment-Based Approach

I use an Attachment-Based Approach to care. This approach allows clients to look at the connection between their early life attachment experiences, as well as other life experiences, and current distresses that they are currently facing.  An Attachment-Based Approach focuses on building trust and rapport within the client-counselor relationship as they take the journey to healing and wholeness.

Wandering Traveler

Individual Counseling

With an Attachment-Based approach to care, I primarily use Emotion Focused Therapy (or E.F.T.) to work with preteens, teens and adults. I also incorporate a variety of other therapies and techniques (as needed) in order to help individuals reach their goals for counseling.

Marriage and Couples Counseling

Couples relationships can be hard to navigate at times. I primarily use EFT, and Gottman approaches to help couples resolve internal conflicts and find the relationship satisfaction that they both desire.

Beyond the Counseling Office

Outside of the counseling office I offer mental and behavioral health training for businesses, schools, small groups, and churches. Click below for more information.

"Vulnerability is not knowing victory or defeat, it's understanding the necessity of both; it's engaging. It's being all in."
